Got my dSLR eventually

Ive been talking and thinking about this getting one for a long time now. (Bok you might remember). My brother is currently in the US of A so I asked him to price it for me. €680 for the camera and double lens kit, he called me yesterday while in the shop and I took a deep breadth and said "buy it now!". Have to say I dont know a whole lot about photography but im looking forward to getting into it. TBH I havent bought any gadgets since I started working (over two years ago now!) and Ive been itchin like mad to get something. so anyway, Ive read all the reviews, it seems to stack up well against the competition, only thing being the lens' might be a bit more expensive. But with the built in Image Stabilisation, it means I dont have to shell out in IS for every Lens I buy from now on.

Camera trouble.

So I whipped the memory card out of the camera there last night to transfer files to the PC. Put it in the card reader and went to view the pics but it turns out that any pics ive taken in the last month were not readable. This was strange as I could still see them on the camera when I had the card in it. So I put the card back in the camera and, shock horror the camera just beeps now and displays "card error" on the lcd display. Ive tried reformatting the card in the camera but to no avail, the activity led flashes for about 2 seconds (hardly enough time format the card!). tried reformatting it on the pc, when that completed I put it back in the camera but still no luck. I seriously hope its the card and not the camera!

Anyone have a similar experience?

The Rimini Riddle

Does anyone remember this? A couple of us have been talking about it in work and searching the web for pictures or videos. It was on on Saturday mornings on RTE and possibly repeated sunday eveinings. It was about two (maybe three kids) who went to live with their Aunt Vera. The characters were puppet based characters and there was another weird sock type puppet "otto" I think was his name. There was also something about some weird painting that led the kids into a fantasy land. It was real Scary shit, I have no idea why I watched it but I cant find anything much about it on the Web! Theres a few mentions on boards but no images.

The lazy mans tent

Cool, Just got a new tent for myself. Well I didnt actually get it, but long story short, I loaned my younger brother my own tent last summer and he wrecked it so he bought me a new one this year. Its a Eurohike popup tent. Its class you literally fire it up in the air and it lands as a pitched tent. all you have to do is peg it down. You can see a video here. Click the "Folding your tent" link at the bottom right! This one is actually a quecha tent but its the exact same. They are fairly cheap aswell only €60.

Well dudes, In work here today dying, Went to the Laughter lounge last night and got pickled. It was a pretty good night, there were three comedians but I didnt know any of them, I think one of them might have been in Des Bishops show whatever that was called (in the hood) or something. Any way by the time the third guy came on I could hardly stand! So a great night was had by all!!! The guy MC'ing was deadly aswell but I cant remember his name either. There you go thats my useless information for that day. (At least the blog has been updated.)

Edit: Ok its all coming back to me. The Seconds comedians name is Colum McDonnell And the third Guy is Eric Lalor and he was in Joy in the hood!!!

Mobile TV trial

Just got my hands on this. Its the Nokia N92 handset and I have it because of a tv trial here in O2. The TV trial uses DVBH .Its pretty cool I think O2 have about 12 channels at the minute as well as a couple of Interactive channels. The Handset is quite large and very heavy. Anyway Im off to play with it. Will have feedback soon.

Insurance companies are chancers!

Man do I feel great today.

Heres the details:
Im 23, Full licence for 4 years, driving for 6 years
No Claims, no points.

Girlfriend:
20, Provisional licence for <1 year

Car:
1.3 Toyota Corolla, 1995, 4 door, no modifications (apart from furry dice) :P

Last year my policy cost ~ €960 with AXA (first policy in my own name)
Put my girlfriend on as a named driver around Oct/Nov, policy went up to ~ €1200

This year renewal for €1014.55 (AXA):

Rang around for different quotes as follows (all fully comprehensive):

Hibernian: €848
Eagle star: systems were down when I called them.
AA: €654.89
Quinn direct: €734

So I called AXA and mentioned that I had got a better quote from the AA, and just like that, she dropped the price to €660 so I told her the AA was €654 so she said..... fine €650. The deal was done!!!!! The reason I went fully comp was there was only ever about €50 squid in the difference

Saved myself almost €400 snots (tax which is also due end of month!)
Happy days

For the sake of it!

oK oK, ITS been ages since my last post, but Ive been busy with other things (not necessarily work related) and to be honest I still dont have much to post about, Very little entertainment lately only I finally watched "the departed" and have to say it was bangin!!
I do have something to rant about now that I think of it. The bloody NCT craic is gone to shit!!! Ive had my car for a good three or four years now and Ive put it through at least 1 test. So Im standing in the house the other day and decide to look out at my tax, insurance and NCT to see when they are due, Then I notice that my NCT has been out since the end of February!! WTF! The morons don't even bother notifying you when its out anymore. I decided to ring them and the girl says to me "sometimes we dont get around to mailing everybody!" Although now it seems they dont bother mailing anyone because anyone ive been talking to lately has had the same experience. What a load of sh1t. Ive organised one for the 23rd of this month and I need a few new tyres, a set of anti-roll-bar bushings and a service, its also due a timing belt in another 10K miles. Thats right, I now have 170'000 miles on the clock. Hopefully I'l get the 1/4 of a million out of her. She's a 95 corolla saloon and I love her to bits!!!!! I'l post a picture some day!!!!

Oops.

So I my dropped my Laptop and made shit of it. Well I didnt but my girlfriend did, She was working on it and had it charging and tripped on the powercord which sent the laptop crashing to the ground. I taught the ac power cable would have just pulled out from the back of the laptop but unfortunately not (It was at the wrong angle to do this). I was missing a few of the rubber feet from the bottom aswell so I suppose this helped to shift it off the table. It still works but the lid is completely cracked off from one hinge. I havent tested all the other hardware yet but I got a quote from dell for €233 to have the lid fixed. Il post pictures tomorrow. So then I see Aldi have a fairly alright spec laptop this Thursday for €799 and Im considering it at the minute, comes with:
Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor T2060 1.60GHz 533 MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache
1,024MB DDR2 SDRAM
120GB Hard Disk
15.4" TFT WXGA Widescreen Display
Wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g

And Lidl have one aswell for €999 that comes with XP

Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit for sale!!

Sony Ericsson HCB-400 Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit!! I just bought this last week, however it has remained unopened and is as new! The reason I didnt install it is I was given a bluetooth Car radio (parrot Rythm and Blue) that can be used instead of a car kit to make and take calls. Im selling it for €120. If your interested you can contact me by email. barry.fitzharris@o2.ie.

A professional installation is probably the best way to get it in although a self install seems to be fairly easy. Works with all Bluetooth enabled phones.

If you have any questions, il be happy to help you out

Uncyclopedia.org

Take a look at this site. I heard ray darcy talking about it this morning. Its brilliant its like a piss take of wikipedia. Below is the result of a lookup on Dublin

Dublin
From Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia.
“Butter is the last refuge of the unimaginative”

Capital of South Ulster, parts of Wicklow, Meath and Kildare. The only city in the World to be made entirely out of butter, except for the city hall, which is made of I-still-can't-believe-it's-not-butter. This led to the Margarine Wars of the late 20th century. Dublin and most of Ireland was rocked by the rebels trying to overcome the margarine rule of northern Ireland. Most of the population of Dublin died quite horrendously during various skirmishes. Over the years, this led to the Irish being replaced by the Polish.

Also the only city in the World populated and run entirely by heroin addicts. Dublin inhabitants were usually called Dubliners or Scangers, before the 2005 spelling reform enacted by The Nolan Sisters, which stated they are to be called Polish.

Dublin is popular with toast lovers and scone affectionados, who flock to the city on St. Sneaky Pete's day to cover their foodstuffs with the centre's fine civic monuments, for instance the 'point with no point' with butter.

Drugs are bad!!

Ok so if you've ever dabbled in some light (or heavy) narcotics, you might want to take a look at this video. Spiders have proven to be the best test cases to test the effects of drugs on ones ability to do everyday tasks. This is brilliant!!!
